In order to further promote academic exchanges and scientific cooperation in mechanics-related fields and to discuss the latest research progress and its applications, the 2023 "Six Universities Academic Forum on Mechanics" was held in Huzhou from April 15 to 17, with the participation of six universities: Tsinghua University, Dalian University of Technology, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Peking University, Zhejiang University and Northwestern Polytechnic University. Huzhou. The conference was hosted by the College of Aeronautics and Astronautics of Zhejiang University and organized by the Zhejiang Institute of Turbomachinery and Power. Nearly 100 experts and scholars, including academician Wei Yang and academician Yueguang Wei, gathered together to discuss how to accelerate academic exchanges and scientific cooperation in mechanics and aerospace-related fields, and the latest research progress and applications of extreme mechanics.
Prof. Tao Suo and Prof. Kai Zhang, and 16 other faculty representatives attended this forum, among which several professors were invited to make keynote presentations. Prof. Kai Zhang introduced his research progress on symplectic analysis methods and behavior regulation of structural wave dynamics of ultra-large spacecraft, Prof. Ze Jing introduced the multi-scale mechanical behavior of superconducting materials and structures under extreme service conditions, Prof. Bing Hou reported on the light-weight energy-absorbing materials and structures, Professor Yanbo Xie introduced the research results on neuromorphic memory block based on micro and nano fluid transfer.
Through this academic forum, our young faculty members shared and presented the latest results of mechanics research, which were recognized and paid attention by the participating experts. Through exchanging with other scholars, it also enhanced the understanding and knowledge of our university's mechanics discipline, further expanded the influence of our university's mechanics discipline, and laid the foundation for the next collaboration and exchange.
It is reported that the predecessor of “Six Schools Academic Forum on Mechanics” is the “Four Schools Academic Forum on Mechanics” initiated by Tsinghua University and Dalian University of Technology with the participation of Zhejiang University and Xi'an Jiaotong University, which has greatly promoted the academic exchange and scientific research cooperation of mechanics disciplines in each school. After years of development, Northwestern Polytechnical University and Peking University have been invited to be one of the members of the “Six Schools Academic Forum on Mechanics”.
