1.Introduction

As China's comprehensive national power increases, the performance of civil and defence equipment gradually increases, and the service or working environment of engineering structures and personnel becomes increasingly harsh, such as ultra-high/low temperature, strong electromagnetic fields, extreme weather (sand and hail, etc.), hypersonic speed, explosive impact, space environment and other extreme environments; a new generation of major engineering equipment has higher requirements for the functionality and mechanical properties of materials and structures, such as These problems are inseparable from mechanics and can be summarized as "extreme mechanical problems".

Organised by the Experimental Mechanics Committee of the Chinese Society of Mechanics and hosted by the Institute of Extreme Mechanics of Northwestern Polytechnical University, the "Frontiers and Challenges of Experimental Methods and Techniques under Extreme Conditions" will be held in Lintong District, Xi'an, from March 30th to April 2th 2023.

The workshop will discuss and exchange experimental methods and techniques under extreme conditions from home and abroad in recent years, and further promote the research of experimental methods and techniques in extreme mechanics. Welcome all the experts and scientists to attend this workshop!
